Tell us about you and your role within the SU:

I am Abhishek and I am in the second year of Electromechanical Engineering Technology Program, here at Davis Campus. I represent FAST as one of the two Student Senators and I have always taken the initiative to raise the voice of students in front of right personnel.

One of the things I am looking forward to achieving until April'19 is spreading enough awareness among students about already set up clubs, events, services, opportunities and bringing new ideas to the table to foster this idea. My vision is to put forth the voice of all those students who want to make Sheridan a better place for all and try to bring a better balance to the academic and non-academic life of the students. Being a good listener is a crucial part in leadership roles like these and I love listening to students.

I love the immense talent and potential Sheridan carries in its diversity and I firmly believe that Sheridan is a great platform for all the students like you and me to develop and grow this talent. I would honestly want a better student leader than myself to replace me for the next term of Board of Director who could support and advocate for a better student life at Sheridan, in a much more enthusiastic and passionate way.

Tell us a fun fact about you:

I am a huge fan of adrenaline rush and I am always down for adventurous stuff. I made it a resolution to try at least one adventurous activity like skydiving, bungee jumping etc each year.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?:

It would either be my grandparent's home or a place where I could sit and see the World from, most probably outer space. In both cases, I want to be able to see the "world".

I am in my second year in the Early Childhood Education Diploma at Trafalgar Campus, loving to be a Sheridan Student. I enjoy learning everyday, sharing experiences with amazing faculty, peers and educators. Through my journey at Sheridan I have been able to achieve some of my goals, overcoming challenges that I never imagine I'd be capable of, being supported and accompanied by fantastic people who had believed in me and had encouraged me to do my best and to be the best person I can be. In this year, I am looking forward to helping and supporting my peers' ideas and projects, representing them within the Board with advocacy, honesty and commitment.

Tell us a fun fact about you: I love singing and every morning I wake up my family with funny songs... !!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I love traveling, so I would love to know many places around the world. One of my biggest dreams since I was a child was living in Canada... now I am here, enjoying every day and considering my self a very fortunate and blessed person !!

If you had to watch one (and ONLY one) series on Netflix for the rest of your life, what would it be? Definitely Friends !! The adventures of those guys make me laugh a lot !!

“I'm a former Sheridan student and board member of the SSU. I'm back to do a new degree and I would like to be involved with the Sheridan community while I am here.

I want to be a voice for the students and represent the creative and imaginative side of Sheridan. If elected, I will endeavour to make Sheridan a more involved and outgoing community.

I am a former board member so I already have experience with the position. I also am not afraid to speak up in public for what's right and feel that I am a natural leader.”

Tell us about you and your role within the SU: Hello, I am Andres, I am a Singer/Songwriter/Producer & Multi-Instrumentalist & I am on my way to finish a 2 Year Business Marketing Program... My Goal this year is to increase awareness and opportunities for all the Musicians and Artsy peeps here at Sheridan.

Tell us a fun fact about you: When I was younger, so much younger than today, I was a national chess champion and would-still be down-to-play!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? La Paz, Bolivia. Not only because it's really far away from Canada & I enjoy really long flights, but also I was born there. In La Paz, You can find many types of climates from Snowy/Rocky Mountains like "La Cumbre" to amazing Amazonian Tropical Rain-forests like "Los Yungas".
Besides that food is "Incroyable" and organic!

If you had to watch one (and ONLY one) series on Netflix for the rest of your life, what would it be? Netflix offers many wonderful shows and one of my guilty pleasures is binge-watching them. Since I can only pick one, I am going to name a show that I saw before the Netflix streaming era. So my show of choice would be "Lie To Me". I see myself as a very perceptive person and when I walk into a room I love observing. This is not only a show I can relate but also I enjoy the acting of Kelli Williams, aka Dr.Gillian Foster.

"Hi all! My name is Ayman Usmani and I am a Practical Nursing student at the Davis Sheridan College campus. A couple months back, I received an email announcing the start of nomination submissions for the SSU Board of Directors. I thought "hey, why not?", and that mere thought led to the meeting of many wonderful people along my path to actually being on the Board. I figured that if I am going to be here for just 2 years, then I might as well make it a meaningful experience and leave a positive footprint on this campus. Many people have shared with me their opinions about what change they would like to see, and I hope i can do my absolute best in the upcoming year to make them come true. I look forward to connecting with even more students in the future, and reminding them that they have someone they can always reach out to whenever need be."

Tell us a fun fact about you: I have the delightful and highly-sought after skill of being able to handle two incredibly annoying younger sisters :)))) *she types as she tries to brush off both of their peering faces off her shoulders* (just kidding) (not really) (send help).

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? Although I have been in Canada since I was just a year old, I was born in Pakistan. I haven't been there in more than 10 years, and being able to reconnect with faraway relatives and my richly diverse culture would mean the world to me.

If you had to watch one (and ONLY one) series on Netflix for the rest of your life, what would it be? Oh geez, I actually rarely watch or read the same thing twice. I'd rather never watch Netflix again than watch the same show for the rest of my life. But I guess I'll say that The Big Bang Theory has been on my bucket list for the longest time and has more than enough episodes to last me for a while.

I will also be completing the Sheridan Board Undergraduate Certificate in Creativity and Creative Problem Solving next semester which will give me the competitive edge I need to become an accomplished marketing professional upon graduation.

In your professional development journeys, a lot of the learning happens outside of the classroom when engaging yourselves in purposeful activities. That combustion that results from your engagement in purposeful activities with like-minded individuals and more experienced mentors will push you out of your comfort zone, build your character, and boost your self-confidence.

I am very involved with student life at HMC and I have held several executive roles in two academic student clubs:

Academic Club: Sheridan HMC Toastmasters Executive position: VP of Membership (July 2017-July 2018)

Academic club: League of Progressive Bruins HMC
Executive position: President (July 2017-April 2018)
