To Love Who You Love

by: Anders Gatten

Happy Pride, Sheridan!

I know most of the GTA doesn’t get its Pride on until things get a little warmer, but we just couldn’t wait. We are proud of our LGBTQ+ community here at Sheridan and we wanted to take the time to recognize, all together, how beautiful it is to love who you love and be who you are.

From cupcakes and rainbows to Movie nights & Drag shows, there was a lot of fun to be had during Pride Week, and we appreciate every one of you who joined us in celebrating last week. I hope this serves as a reminder to appreciate the diverse communities within Sheridan and that we should always be working towards a fully inclusive environment.

This leads me to our big announcement! As some of you may have heard, the SSU is committed to transforming the bridge between Union Square and SCAET at the Trafalgar campus into Sheridan’s own Rainbow Bridge. This bridge will represent our appreciation for LGBTQ+ community we cherish, the accomplishments we have made toward freedom of love and identity, the distance we still have yet to cover, and the commitment we make every day as Sheridanians to be inclusive to all. Stay tuned to our social media for updates on the progress of the bridge. We want you to be there with us every step of the way.

And last, but certainly not least, we want to hear from you: What did you think of Pride Week? What can the SSU do to be more inclusive?

Please reach out to me at evp.ssuitrc@sheridancollege.ca with any thoughts, concerns, or even if you just want to say ‘Hello’!

Good luck with the end of term!
