Meet Ben:
your new President!
Coming to the successful conclusion of current President - Enrique Ponce’s - term, Sheridan Student Union's hiring committee set out in search of a new President to lead the organization.
This hiring committee was assembled by SSU’s Human Resources Manager and was comprised of voting members of the outgoing SSU Board, along with Associate Dean Matthew Rempel. That committee, along with our President and Board of Directors, is now happy to announce that Ben LeBlanc has been selected as your next SSU President.
“I’ve now worked with Ben in the SSU in different capacities for close to 3 years now and have seen first-hand how driven and passionate he is for student advocacy. There’s no doubt in my mind that Ben has the skills and capabilities to perform his new role as President well and is ready to undertake all challenges that come his way. I am very excited to see how the SSU will evolve to meet the needs of our students and I know Ben will do a great job in this role!”
Ben will be graduating from Sheridan College’s Honours Bachelor of Business Administration in Supply Chain Management and is no stranger to the SSU, having served the organization as Vice-President (VP) for HMC this year. In addition to his role as VP, Ben has been very active on campus as a former SSU Board of Directors member, and the President of Jack.org Sheridan.
“I’ve loved the opportunity to be involved with the SSU over the past three years, between my time on the Board and serving as the Vice President for the HMC Campus, and hope to continue advocating for students across multiple channels. I’m looking forward to bringing my experiences and knowledge to implement positive changes for students at each campus, and deliver innovative and meaningful initiatives and collaborations.”
Sheridan Student Union is pleased to have Ben continue at the SSU and develop into his role as President. He will commence his period of authority on May 1, 2019.
