Leia, Vice President of International Affairs

“I'm an international student from the island of Trinidad & Tobago and my role within the SSU is Vice President of International Affairs where I would be working specifically with international students to assist in any issues that come their way. I would be working both internally & externally with the college to make sure I can advise accordingly about your concerns. I chose to work with the SSU because I wanted to be able to work directly with students in an open environment and help share my assistance whilst building relationships in the workplace. As for what I love most about Sheridan, I like that all campuses are very diverse coming to students and it makes it feel more at home for most. ”

What are some of your goals for your role this year?

“The goals that I plan to accomplish for the year include being able to work with students face to face & find a solution to some of the many issues international students encounter. I want to be able to resolve outstanding matters, meanwhile also creating a space to connect equally within diversity and inclusiveness. Furthermore, I would like to assist students in feeling comfortable in newer environments whereby adaptability doesn't feel impossible or difficult. Overall, I aim to meet these objectives by receiving feedback through students and connecting with several departments externally and internally throughout the college to help make a positive change.”

What program are you in? And why did you choose this program at Sheridan?

“I am currently pursuing a degree in the Honours BBA Finance Program & the reason I chose this program was because I caved an interest in the use of money and how it works, therefore leading to going into this industry and understanding that through the works of the business world.”
