Part-Time, Student Position (Oakville, TRC Campus)

  • PART-TIME - Apply Now ** Please note this application is a 2-part process.

    In conjunction with the Marketing, Communications and Creative Department, and reporting directly to the Manager, Creative the Photographer will assist in brainstorming and planning photo content in relation to all SSU initiatives. The Photographer is required to have working knowledge on editing software such as Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. They are expected to follow the timelines set by management and will aid in shooting, editing, and planning content at the direction of the Manger, Creative 

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

    The SSU Photographer is responsible for creating and editing photo content for the SSU’s Marketing, Communications and Creative Department. The types of photos can vary from promotion/coverage of events, promotion of services, SSU staff/student photos, apparel and swag photoshoots, promotion of our Food Services, etc. The Photographer will work closely with the Manager, Creative to brainstorm and execute SSU photo content. The Photographer will be expected to work in a respectful manner with all SSU staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff and Sheridan College students.

    ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

    The Photographer will report to the Manager, Creative. They will work alongside other Creative Video Editors and Junior Designers, as well as SSU Department Managers and their staff.

    CREATIVE VIDEO EDITOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Executing assignments from conceptualization to final product

    • Directing and assisting on in-person photoshoots and self-directing at events/concerts

    • Colour correct and edit photos

    • Responsible for editing all photo content within assigned due date

    • Travel to and from campuses (Davis, Trafalgar & HMC) as required.

    BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience shooting and editing photos.

    • Understanding of how to light, block, and compose a scene.

    • Demonstrated experience with post-production principles such as colour correction, white balancing, cropping, touch-ups, etc.

    • Enthusiastic and positive energy

    • Strong organizational and time management skills

    • Flexible schedule

    • Ability to collaborate as part of a team and work independently as needed

    The Junior Designer is responsible for producing content for print, web, and digital spaces. As a Junior Designer, you’ll have the freedom to explore new designs and add your personal touch to projects while also maintaining brand guidelines at the SSU. It is the Junior Designer’s responsibility to ensure that Sheridan students receive information about SSU events, clubs, and services in clear, accessible, and engaging ways through the leverage of good graphic design practices (and lots of colors). 

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    The Junior Designer will work closely with the Manager, Creative, other Creative Team members, the Marketing Street Team Supervisor, the Digital Community Coordinators, and management to brainstorm and execute SSU print and web content. The Junior Designer will be expected to work in a respectful manner with all SSU staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff, and Sheridan College students.

    ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE 

    The Junior Designer will report to the Manager, Creative. They will work alongside other Junior Designers, SSU Photographers, and Creative Video Editors

    JUNIOR DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Design and develop creative solutions for a wide range of promotional materials across varying mediums (print, web, digital spaces social media etc.)

    • Researching current design trends and strategizing how those trends can be translated into SSU content

    • Maintains or exceeds the level of work already established, while staying true to the brand guidelines

    • Manages time efficiently to ensure successful and timely completion of any given task.

    • Ensures a positive work environment and culture within the Creative Department, but also the SSU in general.

    BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs.

    • Understanding of basic design principles (typography, layout, brand application, etc.).

    • Professional work ethic, exercising of good judgment, tact, and initiative.

    • Enjoys working as part of a team but also excels when working independently.

    • Excellent attention to detail.

    • Ability to conceptualize layout and brand image.

    the Videographer will assist in brainstorming and planning video content in relation to all SSU initiatives. The Videographer is required to have a working knowledge of editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and AfterEffects. They are expected to follow the timelines set by management and will aid in preparing video content for various SSU mediums, including but not limited to Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The SSU Creative Video Editor is responsible for creating and editing video content for the SSU’s Marketing, Communications, and Creative Department. The types of videos can vary from the promotion of events, coverage of events, promotion of services, interviews with students and SSU staff, etc. The Videographer will work closely with the Manager, Creative, other Creative Team members, and management to brainstorm and execute SSU video content. The Videographer will be expected to work in a respectful manner with all SSU staff, volunteers, Sheridan College staff and Sheridan College students.

    ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

    The Videographer will report to the Manager, Creative. They will work alongside other Creative Video Editors, SSU Photographers, and Junior Designers.

    VIDEOGRAPHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Directing and assisting on in-person shoots and self-directing at events/concerts

    Executing assignments from conceptualization to final product

    Input music, closed captions, transitions, graphics and effects.

    Colour correct and stabilize footage.

    Responsible for editing all video content within the assigned due date.

    BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience shooting and editing video content

    Understanding of how to light, block, and compose a scene

    Demonstrated experience with post-production principles such as editing, transitions, video stabilization, color correction, filters, and audio balancing

    Enthusiastic and positive energy

    Strong organizational and time management skills

    Willingness to travel to and from campuses (Davis, TRC & HMC) as required

    Flexible schedule

    Experience with social media, motion graphics, or special effects are assets

    Ability to collaborate as part of a team and work independently as needed

    Passionate about the student life and community on campus.
