Part-Time, Student Position (Oakville, TRAF Campus)

  • APPLY NOW – Part-Time Role

    Please note that this position will require you to work in a physical space on campus.

    The Customer Service Representative will be the main contact for all students’ inquiries related to the SSU and our services. The Customer Service Representative works closely with students as well as SSU Executive team and professional staff.

    Specific Duties Include:

    • Answer front line questions regarding all SSU services including Health and Dental plan, Food First, Legal Resource, Graduation Photos, Tax Service etc.

    • Promote services offered by the SSU by explaining what we offer, how to use the service, and the features and benefits of the service

    • Ensure all emails, voicemail, live chat messages and virtual platform (when applicable) are answered in a timely manner and any serious issues are escalated to the appropriate manager

    • Recording a detailed daily log of completed tasks, pending tasks, student inquiries, and student feedback

    • Work with all team members in a fair and respectful manner in accordance with legislation and SSU Policy and Procedures. Contribute ideas in relation to operational efficiency and service standards and make recommendations to the Director of Services and Assistant Services Manager

    • Participate in virtual and in-person events, info-sessions, engagement activities, Open House and Orientation when needed

    • Mandatory attendance at all relevant training and team meetings

    • Perform other duties as assigned throughout the year by the Assistant Services Manager and Director of Services

    • Booking and coordinating college classrooms, boardrooms, and tables for SSU Clubs, SSU Executives and SSU Staff (if restrictions are lifted by the college regarding campus access)

    • Cleaning and tidying of CSR work desk

    • Doing facility checks in our spaces and troubleshooting/fixing anything that may fall under our department
      Coordinating and sorting interoffice mail, follow guidelines for distributing packages shipped to our offices.

    • Wear provided uniform for every scheduled shift

    • Assist students with faxing, laminating, and binding services

    Required Skills:

    • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the Sheridan community

    • Must be punctual and arrive to all shifts on time

    • Be present at the desk during your scheduled shift

    • Answer all incoming emails and live chats quickly and in friendly and helpful manner

    • Willingness to host and participate in virtual and in person events considered a strong asset

    • Enthusiastic, punctual and professional

    • Desire to work with groups of students in diverse settings

    The Building Host is responsible for making sure their designated campus is in excellent operational and aesthetic condition for student use.  They will work closely with Sheridan Security to ensure all guests are safe and comfortable and that procedures are followed in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, as well as College and SSU operating policies.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Make sure the designated space is presentable at all times

    • Tuck in chairs when they are left by guests

    • Tidy up any spills or messes

    • Notify the operations team of any ‘to-do’ items for the next day

    • Communicate with evening cleaners or facilities staff to help with any facility-related issues

    • Monitor the space for any roughhousing or behaviour in conflict with our policies

    • Report any escalations to security

    • Lock up the facilities at closing time

    • Understand how the AV in the room functions

    Events

    • Setting up space for events, including shifting furniture

    • Tear down and make sure everything is put back for the next school day

    • Understand how to work the Audio/Video in the room to assist with college bookings

    Services

    The Events Team Members are responsible for enriching the student experience beyond academics. As an important part of the position, the Events Team Members will execute events campus-wide and act as a representative of the SSU to ensure Sheridan students have the opportunity to participate in fun and engaging events to enrich themselves socially and culturally.

     Specific Responsibilities: 

    • Execution of Welcome Week, Orientation, and January Frosh & Year-end events

    • Set up and take down of all events

    • Work pub nights, day/night events, off-campus events, concerts, etc.

    • Prize gathering and distribution

    • Work with Events Team Supervisor and Team Leads to organize roles and assignments for SSU-approved events

    • Attend regular team meetings

    • Represent SSU and act professionally in accordance with our SSU Corporate Policies and Sheridan College’s Policies

    • Knowledge on Student Union Services

    • Motivate, encourage, and support event team members, coordinators, and any volunteers

Full-Time, Non-Student Position

  • APPLY NOW- Please note: This is a contract position, with the possibility of an extension or conversion to a permanent full-time position.)

    The Marketing, Communications and Creative Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Marketing, Communications and Creative Team with all marketing initiatives executed by the SSUI across all 3 campuses. The Assistant Manager’s position entails drafting, reviewing and publishing digital communications (SSU website and email marketing, managing the Content Marketing Assistants, and performing a variety of other general marketing duties assigned by the Director).

    Team Management

    • Serves as the direct Manager for Content Marketing Assistants providing oversight and strategic direction to our student leaders on all SSU website communications

    • Liaising with other departments within the Sheridan Student Union organization and Sheridan College to ensure vertical integration.

    • Facilitate and participate in bi-weekly team meetings, as well as facilitating campus specific training sessions to further develop the interests, skills, and overall performance of student leaders

    • Schedule Content Marketing Assistants and approve payroll for each team members.

    Website & SEO Strategy

    • Maintain, update, and optimize the SSU websites with strategic intent to improve accessibility, traffic, and user experience

    • Monitor web analytics and study keyword performance, user behavior and metrics with the intention of improving digital engagement and student experience online

    • Manage and oversee with the Content Marketing Assistants to align content with student interests and organizational priorities

    • Facilitate the onboarding and training of new staff to the Content Marketing Assistant Teams

    • Collaborate with the Social Media and Community Engagement Manager and Creative Manager to develop and execute engaging marketing initiatives on campus and online.

    • Publish SEO-friendly copy that aligns with the SSU Brand Voice

    • Draft and publish news articles and special updates that align with SSU's strategic goals

    • Contribute to content planning, campaign briefs, and monthly calendar meetings

    • Use student feedback and trends (e.g. surveys, polls, street-style content) to inform content creation that resonates with students

    • Work alongside our team to develop blog content for the entire academic year

    Email Marketing Strategy

    • Plan, create, and schedule engaging email campaigns for SSU initiatives from our four distinct email audiences (General, Events & Clubs, Get Involved and Services)

    • Monitor email performance (open rates, click-throughs, etc.) and conduct A/B testing and innovative tactics to optimize brand awareness for students

    • Develop customer journey sequences that drive engagement and conversions

    • Recommend and implement lead generation tactics using Typeform quiz content and interactive content

    • Coordinate cross-promotional efforts by leveraging email sign-ups at both in-person and digital opportunities (e.g. Orientation Week, hallway activations).

    Financial

    • Ensures that all SSUI financial policies and procedures are followed

    •  Maintain responsible budget spending as outlined by Director, Marketing, Communications and Creative.

    Marketing and Communications

    • Responsible for writing, drafting/ editing and publishing all content on SSUI related digital communication channels

    • Responsible for developing news and updates to promote a variety of SSU news, services, events, campaigns, and activities.

    • Responsible for updating the SSU website with all event details or other information

    • Responsible for the development of the digital content calendar and email marketing calendar

    • Responsible for submitting event pages and announcements to Sheridan Central in accordance with the organization’s brand voice, mission and values.

    • Participating in Marketing, Communications and Creative Team Planning Meetings and brainstorming sessions to enhance organization initiatives and activities.

    • Working with the Director and team to develop, launch, maintain and report on campaigns, promotions and initiatives both online and in person

    • Responsible for the developing cross-departmental marketing strategies that can utilize our Media Team comprised of videographers and photographers, as well as the Marketing Street Team and at each campus.

    • Analyzes and collects metrics and analytics for all marketing initiatives both online and offline and uses them to execute and improve future marketing initiatives.

    • Responsible for maintaining and uploading visuals to our digital signage channels (Appspace)

    • Performs other marketing duties as may be assigned by the Director of Marketing, Communications and Creative
