Océanna, Clubs Coordinator

I am a mature student, I graduated High School in 2020, and decided to travel before going back to Post Secondary. As a mature student I wanted to be a part of my student union. As a Clubs Coordinator, I look forward to engaging with students and creating a sense of belonging for each and everyone through clubs, events, pop ups and more. I love that Sheridan provides opportunities for students, through work, volunteer and much more.

Q: What program are you in? And why did you choose this program at Sheridan?

“I am in the Art Fundamentals program, continuing into the Visual and Creative Arts program. I chose this programme because I am passionate about art. My goal is to complete a Bachelor’s of Craft and Design Textiles, and these programs will prepare me and give me the experience that will help me.”

Q: What was your first memory of the SSU? How did you discover that the SSU existed for student support?

“My first memory of the SSU is volunteering. I knew going as a mature student, I wanted to be a part of Sheridan more than a student. I wanted to make an impact as a student and experience everything Sheridan has to offer. Being a volunteer provided me with lots of opportunities to grow and learn more about the SSU.

“My favourite SSU Perk Partner is Crock a Doodle. I enjoy painting pottery and designing neat items, this is a relaxing activity to do on weekends of after school and I often go with friends.”

“My favourite is Thai Express, I enjoy having a noodles and fried rice, and it offer lots of different options.”

Q: Are you a part of any SSU clubs/ associations or volunteer work?

“I have been a part of the Girl Guides of Canada Organizations for 12 years, I started as a guide in grade 7, once I finished High School I became a volunteer. Girl Guides has given me so much, I love giving back to our youth and watching them grow.”
