student wellness at Sheridan
health sponsorship
SSU gifted $430,000 to Sheridan College to support two Health Promotion Specialists – staff members who are dedicated to developing programs and resources which proactively address health and wellness for all students at Sheridan.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION TRAINING MODULE
The Centre for Equity and Inclusion is working alongside the SSU and institutional partners to launch the first in a series of training modules about human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion.
DIMENSIONS OF WELLNESS
This series is focused on supporting all aspects of student health and well-being. A collection of YouTube videos, blog posts and resources are available help Sheridan students have a holistic approach to wellness.

When the Covid-19 pandemic first began, we created the #SherYourHome initiative to help the Sheridan community feel connected. In collaboration with Sheridan College, Bruin Athletics beginning of health services like Food First, Health and Dental and Empower Me accessible from home.
Sexual health and violence committee
The Sexual Health and Violence Support Committee (SHAVS) is a student-led committee that helps protect and support students through resources, events and policy changes and help shape and maintain a healthy culture of non-tolerance of sexual violence at Sheridan.
FRIENDSHIP BENCH
In 2017, SSU and the Health & Counselling Department collaborated on a Friendship Bench project to help students openly talk about mental health, take a break, eat lunch with friends, say hello & help the organization’s goal of reducing the escalating number of youth suicides.

SSU Swag POP-UP SHOP AT THE BAY
We made it into the Bay! SSU create an exclusive pop-shop collection for the Bay and 100% of the profits will be donated to Sheridan’s Emergency Fund. Meet the students working behind the scenes to bring this idea to a store near you!
Espresso yourself
This project offered students the chance to showcase artwork in our coffee shops: The Coffee Loft at TRC and Bruin Coffee House at Davis! Although it’s on pause for the time being, we’re proud to share the talented work of students and look forward to finding more ways to celebrate student art in the future.
sHERIDAN LIFE RADIO
We support SheridanLife Radio by amplifying student voices. SLR is a space for students to share their stories, create new worlds, and connect with students through the airwaves. Check out their podcasts, live shows and more.
bHM CREATIVE REFLECTION CONTEST
SSU, the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton and Sheridan Alumni partnered with Sheridan College for our 2022 Black History Month Creative Reflection Contest. Together we awarded up to 10 students with prizes varying from $250 to $750 in value for their submissions.

In celebration of Black History Month at Sheridan, we were proud to share the work of Sheridan student and Junior Designer, Charlene, who created the brand identity for our SSU Black History Month.

What does it take to become a SSU Scholarship recipient? We celebrate our students who manage to excel in their studies in spite of financial difficulty, and provide opportunities to access the financial assistance they may need. Meet our first SSU Scholarship recipients.
pride sticker project
In celebration of #SheridanPride 2021, four talented Animation students created designs featured in our Pride Sticker Sheets collection, and proceeds went directly to student designers! Each sticker celebrated and acknowledge the unique experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ members. Meet the designers and check out their work now!

In collaboration with the Building Positive Spaces Committee, SSU created a “Love is Love” Pride Collection full of tees, water bottles and hoodies that 2SLGBTQ+ members and allies could wear with pride! All the money made from our Swag Shop goes back into programs, initiatives and scholarships for our students.

Sheridan College and the (SSU) shared submissions from students for the Student Showcase program – showcasing student projects, selling your artwork, and promoting crowdfunding campaigns in the Trafalgar Campus B wing display cases.

In 2021, Sheridan, in partnership with the City of Mississauga, unveiled a rainbow Pride Bench in Scholar's Green outside of Sheridan's Hazel McCallion Campus!

Did you know Sheridan College was the first College in Canada to welcome refugees? The Sheridan Student Refugee Program allows students from around the globe to have access to quality education, and supports each student throughout the journey to Canada.
