SDG Month - SSU x Office for Sustainability

This year’s programming features hands-on repair workshops (Repair Café & Bike Tune-ups) to extend the life of student belongings, 'Freeuse' shopping pop-ups to encourage reuse, and outdoor wellness sessions like our Nature Walk. These events provide students with practical tools to lead a more sustainable lifestyle while fostering a sense of community responsibility.

Repair Café is a global movement that aims to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills, and to change society’s “throw-away” mindset. During Repair Café events, anyone can come and get help fixing their broken items and most importantly, learn from expert volunteer “fixers” about how to repair items themselves.

We will have fixers on-site for:

    • Bikes

    • Books

    • Clothing/Bags

    • Computers

    • Electronics

    • Small appliances

    • Small furniture

    • Toys

Please note we will also be partnering with Let's Get Together to offer a Tech Collect Drive at this event. Please bring any unwanted computers or electronics to be refurbished (or safely recycled) and circulated back to youth in need in the community. Data erase services will be provided for all donated computers.

Who can come and get help to fix broken items?
ANYONE can come and get help their broken items get fixed, provided they have filled out the registration form HERE.

Whether you’re using your first credit card or creating a budget, these sessions provide essential financial tools that many students haven’t had the chance to learn but need right now.

Workshops will run Tuesdays and Thursdays starting February 17–March 31. You can register using the links below. Please note that Co-Curricular Recognition (CCR) credit is available if you attend a minimum of seven (7) workshops.

More Ways To Get Involved: SSU Board Office Hours

Your newly elected SSU Board will be holding office hours across all three campuses, starting in June. During office hours, Directors want to hear about the real barriers you’re facing in your student life—academic pressures, financial strain, gaps in support, or systemic challenges.

Your input drives the SSU’s strategic priorities, budget decisions, advocacy efforts, and long-term planning. ⬇️
