AGM Keynote Speaker

Eddy Robinson, will open our AGM with storytelling and drumming ceremony you won’t want to miss.

Meet Eddy

“My name is Eddy Robinson, I am Muskegowuk (Cree) and Anishinaabe (Ojibway). Like many Indigenous People I grew up living on the margin in Toronto. I wasn't aware of my father’s experience at Residential School and how it directly impacted his life until I was in my late 20's.

As human beings it is essential to understand our purpose in life as spiritual beings having this human experience. I use my story of adversity and journey as a conduit for awareness and ally-ship. Intersections of our stories can bring about awareness for change to elevate the Indigenous narrative and bring meaning to a past, hidden, omitted and unknown to most citizens of the world.

I have completed a Masters of Education Degree as well as graduate diploma - Education in Urban Environments from York University in 2015. I am a band member of the Missanabie Cree First Nation, which has given me the foundation to effectively represent Indigenous values and principles. I have a partial fluency to Anishinaabemowin (Ojibway Language) and over the past 30 years and since those first steps on the path to my Indigenity I have now become a traditional singer (Drummer).

I have traveled across North America speaking to diverse audiences; many non-profit organizations, several corporations, Indigenous communities, various levels of government, leadership, educational institutions about adversity, ally-ship, inclusivity, reciprocity, mutual respect, diversity, relationship building and Indigenous ways of knowing with the intention of building meaningful relationships and creating safe intersections/spaces for all People. I have over 30 years of speaking and practical experience working effectively within Indigenous communities and organizations at all levels; local First Nations, municipalities, Regional Councils, provincial and national leadership. It is this life experience that has prepared me to facilitate and strengthen the successful delivery of sessions, services, policies and the insightful ability to engage leadership on a level of strategic governance. Gitchi-Miigwetch – Greatest Thanks.”
