MEET THE COMEDIANS
HASSAN PHILLS
Hassan Phills, a former basketball player turned comedian from Toronto’s east end, aims to provide a unique and engaging show, bringing Toronto humour to a global audience. Hassan has gained prominence touring around Canada independently, filling theatre and comedy clubs with traction from viral videos on his social media. Even Drake has been seen at his shows! Hassan is also set to be featured in the Crave Original Series, “The Office Movers,” showing his rise in the Canadian entertainment industry.
JACOB BALSHIN
An award-winning stand-up, Jacob was named one of Toronto’s Top 10 Influencers of 2025 by the Toronto Star and has also been featured on CBC’s New Wave of Comedy, where he has amassed millions of views online. Jacob regularly hosts a Hidden Gems showcase in Toronto highlighting the most underappreciated comics in the city. The rising content creator and standup puts on a show that few will forget and leaves them with a lasting impression.
ASHWYN SINGH
Ashwyn Singh is a stand-up comedian, musician, and writer whose work blends incisive humor with heartfelt social commentary. An Indian immigrant turned Canadian resident, Ashwyn draws on his unique perspective to explore themes of cultural identity, immigration, and family with wit and relatability.
His viral Desi Translations series, which has over 40 million views, celebrates the artistry of Hindi and Urdu lyrics by reinterpreting everyday English phrases. Beyond social media, Ashwyn’s standup comedy tackles social issues like immigration, religion, politics, mental health, and global conflicts, highlighting the hypocrisy in human behavior with sharp humor.

This event will take place on Thursday, January 22nd, in The Den at DAV Campus from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Walk-ins are welcome; however, Eventbrite QR registration sign-ups will be prioritized for entrance.
This is an ALL AGES event with alcoholic beverages available for purchase as well as free food
You must be 19 years or older to purchase an alcoholic beverage and show physical, valid, government-issued ID as proof of age (no photocopies or digital copies will be accepted)
