Building Allyship and Unpacking Bro Culture

This workshop explores the history and work of White Ribbon and introduces approaches to building ally-ship: understanding emotions, healthy masculinities, identifying one’s power and privilege, consent, ways to intervene when violence occurs, and how to be a positive role model to other male-identified youth/adults. Additionally, participants will be engaged in questioning systems of violence (white male privilege, rape culture and ‘bro’ culture) present within traditional and social media, and explore ways to promote gender equality and healthy behaviour.
Through guided discussions and activities, participants will identify ways of challenging toxic behaviour and of promoting healthy relationships as well as a positive sense of self.
