Submit your Creative Reflection For A Chance to Win Up to $750!

The annual Black History Month Creative Reflection Contest is back. In honour of Black History Month 2024, we invite Sheridan students to submit a creative reflection piece that shares their experience, thoughts, or reflection for a chance to win awards of up to $750.00!

Our 2024 Black History Month focus is “Finding Home: Belonging & Community”. What does that mean to you? Share your thoughts here.

Things to Keep In Mind Before Submitting Your Reflection

1. All Creative Reflections should stay true to the theme "Finding Home: Belonging & Community" and celebrate Black History: We encourage students to honour Black History Month in their own unique way and use the theme as a guide for their reflection. Only reflections that align with the theme will be considered.

2. All creative submissions must be original work: Make sure all elements of your work are original. You can choose any medium in the following categories: visual art, creative writing or multi-media.

3. Students can submit more than one reflection (optional): If you would like to submit more than one reflection in the same or different medium category, you are free to do so!

We will be awarding prizes of up to $750 in value for winning submissions and featuring student artwork across SSU and Sheridan channels, events and spaces – as is currently showcased in the B-Wing Showcase at the Trafalgar Campus.  Award winners from each category will be awarded prizes after our Black History Month 2024 celebration.

To participate, visit thessu.ca/blackhistorymonth, and submit your reflection by February 29, 2024!
