Guess what?! SSU Swag is in the Bay!

SSU Launches new Swag Pop-ups at the bay to Support Sheridan Students

Bramalea City Centre, Hudson Bay Pop-up display features pieces from Sheridan College, Sheridan Student Union, and Sheridan Athletics. Set-up by Visual Merchandising Sheridan students, Tracy Liang and Wen Zhang.

Sheridan Student Union is excited to share that we’ve collaborated with Sheridan College and Sheridan Athletics to open pop-up shops at Hudson’s Bay near all three campuses. The collection ranges from apparel, such as hoodies and t-shirts to merchandise such as umbrellas and notebooks with all profits supporting Sheridan’s Student Emergency Fund — a resource for students experiencing urgent financial need. The majority of the collection is available exclusively at Hudson’s Bay at Oakville Place, Square One Shopping Centre and Bramalea City Centre.

One of the exciting parts of working on the pop-ups was knowing the collection will give back to Sheridan students. We know just how difficult the last few years have been for students financially, and are proud to have found another way to support student wellness and financial needs.

Equally as exciting was creating new swag that would be featured on pop-ups designed and maintained entirely by Sheridan students. The pop-ups were designed by recent Visual Merchandising graduate, Minju An, and will be supported by Tracy Liang and Wen Zhang, two second-year students from Sheridan’s Visual Merchandising program. Both students will support the stores with the pop-up shop, managing pricing, sales and merchandising during its 6-month tenure at Hudson’s Bay. As your Student Union, our mission is to enhance the Sheridan College experience, and we believe the pop-ups will do just that.

“This innovative work study placement provides our students with hands-on experience in one of Canada’s largest and most reputable retailers,” says Louise Franklin, Sheridan’s Visual Merchandising Arts program coordinator. “We’re thrilled to be able to provide our students with this incredible opportunity to put their skills into practice.

A Closer Look: SSU Pop-Up Items

Collectively, the pop-ups include a range of items from hoodies and t-shirts to umbrellas and notebooks, but which items are the SSU additions? We featured four new items inspired by the retro and vintage styles students already loved. The fresh take on our classic SSU Swag items-like our vintage dad hat and SheridanLife hoodies- are combined with two new designs- a retro water bottle and duffle-bag. On all our swag, you will find our custom designed SSU logo- the bright, magenta “S” in celebration of your Sheridan Life!

VINTAGE DAD HAT: A classic fit with a new twist. You won’t find the navy and magenta combo anywhere else!

SSU WATER BOTTLE: Stay hydrated with our retro style water bottle!

SSU DUFFLE BAG: Need a bag to workout or travel with? Our stylish duffle bag will fit just about everything you need.

SHERIDAN LIFE HOODIE: It’s getting cold outside, and who doesn’t love a comfy hoodie!?

“Sheridan is honoured to be a member of the vibrant communities of Oakville, Mississauga and Brampton,” says Dr. Janet Morrison, President and Vice Chancellor at Sheridan. “We hope that members of the Sheridan community – whether they’re alumni, students, faculty, or our partners — feel a similar sense of pride to be part of an institution that values collaboration and innovation. Through this partnership with the Hudson’s Bay Company, our community can feel proud to wear a Sheridan ‘S’ while also supporting students in need.”

The pop-up stores may be temporary, but the opportunity to collaborate with students and support those who may be in need, has made a lasting impression.
