September 2023: Sheridan Student Union Recap

June was filled with Sheridan Pride celebrations, staff training and development opportunities!

We kicked off the Fall term doing exactly what we do best: advocating for students, making long-lasting memories, and taking a stand for the things that matter the most. From hosting a Back-to-School Barbie Bash, setting up Consent Week pop-ups, to honouring Truth and Reconciliation, September reinforced the impact we can all have when we come together.

As your Student Union, we are proud to share company-wide contributions and recognize the talented and hardworking student leaders who help make it happen. Take a look at your September 2023 Sheridan Life Update and find out what the SSU has been up to lately.

Our Executive Team

  • We ran our Community Fair at all 3 campuses and had about up to 15 community organizations visit.

Our Clubs & Organizations

• Our Clubs Coordinators have been working hard planning for the upcoming Fall Clubs Fair

  • We have created 4 new prospective clubs, and are actively looking for students interested in starting the following clubs on campus:

Our Events Team

  • Later in the month, Sexy Bingo events at each campus provided an educational AND fun experience for students. Hosted by International Relationship Coach Alisha Fisher, students had the chance to learn about sexuality and consent in a safe space and win some prizes.

  • We had a turnout of over 2000 people for all our events in the month of September.

Our Food Services Team

  • We started to plan Food Sample Days on campus – stay tuned for: Masala Fries Samples in October!

Staff Shoutouts & Wins:

🗣️ “A special shout-out to Garrecka for stepping up and helping with coverage at the desk when our team needed last minute shift changes!”

🗣️ “We want to give a shoutout to our newly-hired Event Team Members at all three campuses for jumping into their new roles this month and nailing it! This year’s Event Teams are excited and focused on creating the best possible experiences for Sheridan Students.”

🗣️ “We would like to celebrate Zanya this month. She had great turnout both in-person and online for her executive meeting. She had informative slides to engage the students and had pizza and Timbits for everyone. She also ran a great pop-up highlighting the prospective clubs at TRC. Well done Zanya!”

Thank you to all our Staff and Student Leaders for their hard work, laughs, and contributions every day. This month was filled with community wins and personal growth. We can’t wait to see what exciting new activities we get up to next month!
