This past year, SSU food services introduced a new model into our spaces; one that welcomed kiosks, new menus, and a popular K-food outlet. While the new addition of bubble tea on campus was well received, and many members appreciated having our food spaces reopen, student feedback highlighted two priorities that matter most: providing employment opportunities for students and making meals on campus more affordable. Here’s what we’re doing to support those two aspects of your Sheridan Life and prepare for our Fall 2026 opening.
Hiring Part-Time Student Food Service Jobs
When you head into our spaces in September, one of the most noticeable changes will be that the kiosks have been removed. Although we’ve tried the kiosks approach this upcoming year, we will be reintroducing the peer-to-peer model: meaning we’re bringing back student job opportunities, supervisor positions, and the magic that comes from human connection within our outlets. To start, the return of student employment opportunities will be modest, largely due to the ongoing challenges within our sector, still we are hopeful that the success of this initiative can create more opportunities for continued growth in the future.
SSU Food Service Jobs: Student Hiring Begins August 2026
If you are a current Sheridan student looking to work at our SSU food services spots in the upcoming academic year, stay tuned: All part-time food services jobs will be posted in early August 2026.
Providing Affordable Food Options On Campus
Throughout the current Spring/Summer term, we are working on creating a new food service experience that offers students and the broader Sheridan community a spectrum of offerings that meet you wherever you are in your day. This transition and ongoing process will ask us to boldly move in a new direction and continue to center our collective care for students, staff, and the Sheridan larger community. Whether you’re on a budget, looking for a sweet treat, or a filling meal, our new food service model is being designed with students feedback in mind.
We know students are juggling a variety of expenses – from rent, tuition, commuting costs and more, as well as managing various responsibilities - whether it’s working multiple jobs, leading a club or just trying to figure out how to take care of yourself as an adult, we believe food is the last thing that should create a barrier. Although we are closed for the Spring/Summer term, we look forward to the upcoming launch.
Addressing Food Accessibility: FREE Farmer’s Markets
Did you know SSU is giving away FREE groceries and fresh food at all three campuses this month? Stop by our next Farmer’s Market, run by your Sheridan Student Union. Get the details, save the date, and see you there!
Fighting Food Insecurity on a Provincial Level
As we continue to adapt our food services on campus, we're also advocating for policy changes that address student needs. Through our membership with Ontario Student Voices, our SSU Executive Team is working alongside other student unions across the province to help address the growing concerns around food insecurity within our province. We are committed to advocating for meaningful, long-term change on campus and beyond.
As we explore new approaches to food services, pilot different ideas, and find innovative ways to turn your student feedback into something that is genuinely valuable to your campus experience, we look forward to thoughtfully reimagining what meaningful food experiences can look like at Sheridan. For now though, one of our steps toward preparing for the Fall semester is growing our Food Services team. We're currently hiring Kitchen Supervisors at each campus location. If you're a recent Sheridan graduate or an experienced professional who is passionate about food, leadership, and creating a meaningful impact in students lives, we'd love to hear from you.
