As your Sheridan Student Union (SSU), we want to make sure that you are informed and ready to handle anything the school year brings your way. Whether it’s your first year on campus, or you’ve been here for years, it’s helpful to know what resources and supports are available to help enhance your Sheridan Life.
With the news of a potential strike, you may be wondering how this could affect your student experience. As members of Ontario Student Voices (OSV), an advocacy group working to shape education policy across the province, the SSU will maintain our commitment to staying informed and ensuring Sheridan students have access to helpful resources needed to thrive in our rapidly changing world. This update can shed a bit more light on how the Sheridan Student Union can support you along the way.
The College Education Council (CEC) and OPSEU have been in a collective bargaining status, with two negotiation dates scheduled this week on September 9th and 10th. The No Board Report previously issued by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development of Ontario means that if no agreement is reached, a strike could begin as early as 12:01 AM on September 11, 2025.
With negotiations still underway, here are a few important details to know, should a strike occur:
Any information and official updates will be centralized through Sheridan College website.
Sheridan Student Union spaces and events will continue to be available to students.
Sheridan Student Union services will continue to be accessible for Sheridan students.
