Meet your board of directors!
Krishna Sharma
Board of Director, 2025-2026
Program: Software Development and Network Engineering
Tell us about you and your role within the SU:
“My name is Krishna Sharma, and I am a third-semester student in the Software Development and Network Engineering program at Sheridan College. I’m passionate about technology, leadership, and student advocacy. Over the past year, I have actively volunteered at numerous SSU events and collaborated with clubs to help create a more vibrant and inclusive student community. I’ve also supported sustainability initiatives through Sheridan’s Mission Zero program and taken part in various competitions organized by the SSU, which gave me a deeper understanding of student engagement and campus life. Now, I’m excited to take on a larger role by serving on the Board of Directors and continuing to support and uplift the student voice.”
What is your goal as a member of the Board this year?
“As a Board Director this year, my primary goal is to create a more supportive, inclusive, and empowering campus environment where all students can thrive. I aim to advocate for three key areas: improved access to mental health and wellness resources, stronger financial support through scholarships and bursaries, and enhanced cultural representation across all Sheridan campuses. Health and wellness is a cause particularly close to my heart. Having personally witnessed the impact of mental health struggles among students, I’m passionate about ensuring everyone has timely access to the support they need. If elected, I will work towards expanding counselling services, reducing wait times, and introducing 24/7 mental health support through platforms like Empower Me. I will also advocate for more free wellness initiatives—including yoga, meditation, and fitness programs—and for the creation of calm, dedicated wellness spaces on campus where students can recharge and connect. Additionally, I want to improve access to financial aid by pushing for more scholarships, bursaries, and emergency funding options. No student should have to choose between their education and basic needs. I also hope to bring more cultural inclusion to the forefront by supporting diverse student clubs, events, and voices on campus. With my background in both academics and community service, I am committed to making Sheridan not just a place of learning, but a place where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed..”
Tell us a fun fact about you:
“I once built my very first game using HTML5 and JavaScript through a platform called ZIM.js—and even though it was super simple, watching it come to life felt like magic! Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on creating interactive web experiences. Also, I can code for hours with lo-fi music and chai by my side—it’s my ultimate productivity combo!
Outside of tech, I’m a big anime fan and currently deep into watching One Piece. I’m totally hooked on Luffy’s journey and the whole Straw Hat crew—it’s an emotional rollercoaster packed with epic battles and life lessons. Visiting the One Piece Tower in Japan is definitely on my bucket list!
As a new Board Member, what are your expectations of this role?
“As a new Board Member, I expect this role to be a platform where I can actively contribute to positive change and meaningful initiatives that benefit the student community. I hope to collaborate with fellow Board members and SSU leaders to amplify student voices and address real concerns such as mental health, financial support, and inclusivity. I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of how student governance works, participating in decision-making processes, and being part of projects that improve student life across all Sheridan campuses. Most importantly, I expect this role to challenge me to grow as a leader, advocate, and community builder while always putting students first.”
