SSU Board of Directors Update
Learn what your SSU Board of Directors has been up to this month!
June was a month of energizing initiatives, student connection, and big-picture planning for the SSU Board of Directors.
The Director's Office Hours are definitely one big highlight for us this month! We officially launched this initiative across all campuses, giving students a space to stop by, ask questions, learn about what we do and share their feedback. These one-on-one conversations have already helped us better understand the challenges and priorities of our student community and we look forward to continuing these sessions throughout the summer. Take a look at the full board hours schedule here.

Our SSU Board members also took part in several major events throughout the month. Austin Sharpe, our TRC Director and Vice-Chairperson, proudly spoke at Sheridan’s Pride Flag Raising Ceremony to help kick off Pride Month. “Representing and amplifying the voices of students is exactly the reason why I campaigned to be a part of this Board. Having the opportunity to express and share my identity with everyone at the Pride flag raising event is a special moment I will cherish.”
Agambir Singh and Krishna Sharma, our Davis Campus Directors, participated in Sheridan’s convocation ceremonies, celebrating hundreds of students as they crossed the stage and stepped into their next chapters.
For Agambir, the experience was both humbling and affirming. “Participating in Sheridan's convocation ceremonies was an absolute honour,” he said. “Standing on that stage and witnessing hundreds of students achieve their dreams reminded us why student advocacy is so important. These graduates represent the future leaders, innovators, and changemakers of our community. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!”
On Wednesday, June 25th, Peter Kyadondo, TRC Director and Chairperson, represented the SSU at IGNITE’s Echo Advocacy Day Conference at Humber College. He connected with student leaders across Ontario and discussed shared challenges in postsecondary education. Peter noted, “We had the chance to talk about the benefits of advocating as a collective rather than as individual student unions. Coming together in this way helps us amplify our impact and better address the shared challenges facing post-secondary students. We were also briefed on Bill 33, and I’m committed to following how it progresses through parliament to understand what it could mean for students here at Sheridan.”
SSU Board members also played a key role in Sheridan’s Presidential Search Consultation sessions, ensuring that student feedback was reflected in this important institutional decision. At our Board meeting on Thursday, June 26th, we officially struck two important committees:
The Policy Committee, which will review and update SSU policies and bylaws.
The Strategic Plan Committee, which will lead the development of a refreshed multi-year plan to guide SSU’s future.
Both committees are committed to centering the student voice and ensuring the Union’s direction reflects today’s student experience.
Janet Morrison, Austin Sharpe, Samiya Khan and Peter Kyadondo during Janet’s farewell ceremony at Sheridan College, HMC Campus.
To close the month on a meaningful note, Peter and Austin, joined by Executive Team Director Samiya Khan, represented the SSU in delivering a farewell message and gift to former President Janet Morrison, recognizing her years of collaboration and leadership at Sheridan College. Her legacy is one that will keep inspiring everyone at Sheridan. In July, we’re focused on deepening student engagement and continuing the groundwork for the new Strategic Plan. We’ll keep hosting office hours, gathering feedback, and doing everything we can to make sure your voice is reflected in the work we do.
We hope to see you at our next Board meeting on Monday, July 28, at 3:00 PM at Davis Campus.
