SSU Announces New Director of Student Executive

Sheridan Student Union is happy to announce that Samiya Khan joined our team as the Director, Student Executive Team. This newly reimagined role—formerly known as the President position - will continue to take on the responsibility of managing the Student Executive team, previously referred to as Vice Presidents. The SSU Board is excited to see this role evolve and strengthen the future of student leadership at Sheridan. This shift reflects our continued commitment to support and elevate our work through student leadership.

This evolution builds on the restructuring of our Vice President roles in 2021, through which those roles became more specialized, allowing each student leader to focus on supporting in a key area of student life. This focus has proven incredibly impactful and empowering for our students, teaching us that the President role must grow in the same way.

“We want to thank our current President, Ganyo Soh, for her dedicated leadership. Each SSU President has helped lay the groundwork that allows us to continue to grow, adapt, and thrive in an ever-changing world. Their commitment to enhancing the student experience is a big part of what makes this transition possible. As we welcome a new Director, Student Executive Team and a new Board, we’re inspired by the opportunity this change brings to keep that momentum going and support student leaders in creating meaningful, lasting impact on campus.”

- Gulsher Cheema, Chair of the SSU Board 2024-2025

As a not-for-profit organization with student voices at the heart of all we do, this shift allows us to offer more focused support where it matters most - our student leaders. We look forward to providing more intentional support to our student executives, strengthening collaboration with the SSU Board to drive impactful change on campus, and fostering strong relationships both within the Sheridan community and with external partners to enhance life on campus.
