Sama, Clubs Coordinator

I am really passionate about art, crafts, and creative work, and I’m excited to bring that passion and creativity to the SSU and its club community. One of the main reasons I wanted to join the Clubs Department is because I want to be an active member of my campus community and be a supportive and approachable peer for the many clubs at Sheridan.

Have questions about clubs? Want to join or start one of your own?

Q: What are some of your goals for your role this year?

“One of my main goals this year is to help create more opportunities for communities and interests at Sheridan that may not currently have much representation. I would also like to encourage more engagement within existing clubs by supporting their ideas, helping them bring new initiatives to life, and finding creative ways to connect with more students.
Most importantly, I want to make a positive impact on the Sheridan community by helping students feel welcomed, represented, and encouraged to get involved. I hope that through my role, I can help make clubs feel more accessible and create a stronger sense of community and connection across campus.”

Q: What program are you in? And why did you choose this program at Sheridan?

“I’m in the Honours Bachelor of Science in Osteopathy. I chose it because I’ve always been interested in health, the human body, and helping people recover and feel better. Sheridan stood out to me because of the hands-on approach and the environment itself. It felt like a place where I could actually grow both academically and personally.”

Q: What are 3 things on your bucket list?

  1. Get a Masters Degree

  2. Travel to all the countries around the Mediterranean Sea

  3. Learn Spanish

Q: What program are you in? And why did you choose this program at Sheridan?

“I’m in the Interior Design program. I chose this program because I’m very passionate about designing and creating spaces that bring comfort, peace, and a sense of belonging to people. I chose Sheridan because of its hands-on approach to learning and the specialized tools, studios, and classrooms available to Interior Design students. I felt that Sheridan would give me the practical experience and creative environment I needed.”

Q: What was your first memory of the SSU? How did you discover that the SSU existed for student support?

“My first real memory of the SSU was walking into the building for my Club Coordinator interview. Before that, I had seen SSU events online and on SheridanWorks, but I had never really interacted with the SSU itself. When I walked into the space for the first time, I was really impressed by the design and energy of the building. It felt welcoming and comfortable, which made me excited to learn more about the SSU and the community it creates for students.”

Q: Which SSU Perk Partner is your personal favourite?

“The Original Shawarma perk for sure.”

Q: Are you a part of any SSU clubs/associations or volunteer work?

“I’m not currently a member of any SSU clubs or associations, but I’m interested in joining the PCC and ASAS. I’d love the opportunity to become more involved in my cultural communities while also being an active part of the wider SSU community.”
