Q: Tell us about you and your role within the SSU

My name is Navjot, and I am a Sheridan student and a Member Service Ambassador with the SSU. I enjoy meeting new people, helping students, and being involved in campus activities and events. I joined the SSU because I wanted to be more connected to the Sheridan community and gain experience while supporting other students. I enjoy creating a friendly and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions or looking for support. I am looking forward to learning new skills, meeting more students, and being more involved with SSU events throughout the year. I love Sheridan because of its supportive community, student opportunities, and the welcoming environment on campus.

Q: What are some of your goals for your role this year?

My goals for this year are to improve my communication and customer service skills and become more confident in my role. I want to help students feel welcome, comfortable, and supported when they visit the SSU. I also want to learn more about the services and resources available to students so I can guide them in the right direction. I hope to get more involved in SSU events, meet new people, build connections, and contribute positively to the Sheridan community.

Q: What program are you in? And why did you choose this program at Sheridan?

I first completed the Pre-Health Sciences program at Sheridan, and now I am in the Practical Nursing program. I chose Practical Nursing because I am passionate about healthcare and enjoy helping and caring for others. I chose Sheridan because I really like the supportive environment, the opportunities for students, and the positive experience I have had here.

Q: What was your first memory of the SSU? How did you discover that the SSU existed for student support?

My first memory of the SSU was seeing a poster for an SSU event on the campus poster board. As an international student, I did not know much about the SSU or the support and services available to students. After seeing the poster, I became curious and searched more about the SSU. I learned that the SSU provides many helpful resources, events, and opportunities for students.

Q: What are 3 things on your bucket list?

Try bungee jumping
Make more unforgettable memories with my family and friends.
Travel to different countries and explore new places.

Q: What's the best SSU event you've attended so far?

The best SSU event I have attended so far was the Holi event. I really enjoyed the fun and welcoming atmosphere, celebrating with other students, and experiencing the colours, music, and positive energy.

Q: Are you a part of any SSU clubs/ associations or volunteer work?

Yes, I am part of the Sikh Student Association at Sheridan. I enjoy being involved in the club, meeting new people, participating in events, and being part of the Sheridan student community. It has been a great opportunity to connect with other students and contribute to campus activities.
