Q: Tell us about you and your role within the SSU
Hi my name is Mickel Wright. I'm a third-year BFTV student. What made me want to work for the SSU is the SSU's engagement, representation, and success for students. I look forward to making new connections and growing in the wonderful position I have been given. What I love the most about Sheridan is the amazing opportunities that I have had and hope to continue to experience through my years. Through this experience at Sheridan, I have gained lifelong friends and experiences I will never forget.
Q: What are some of your goals for your role this year?
My goals for this year is to build new connections and relationships both here at the SSU and through my program, but to grow personally through everyday life.
Q: What program are you in? And why did you choose this program at Sheridan?
My program is Honours Bachelor of Film and Television, or BFTV for short. Personally, I chose this program due to my love of storytelling and personal expression in art, more specifically the visual side. Translating experiences of life into a narrative or a personal creative form of expression. I chose Sheridan due to the success of alumni in the industry and due to the high praise that the school represents for its teachings.
Q: What was your first memory of the SSU? How did you discover that the SSU existed for student support?
I first found out about the SSU through my friends, more specifically the events being put on outside of the school. My first event was the Jungle Gym trip to Toronto that was put on in March of 2025. I started to see more of the SSU through the events at the Marque at my home campus (Trafalgar), where there would be pop-ups highlighting clubs, serving free breakfast, celebrating, and handing out merch advertising what the SSU is in the hallways and through the event posters.

I'm a Junior Designer on the creative team; my job is to make all of our graphics for events, initiatives, popups, and swag, look as good as they possibly can.
